Denim and jeans, often used interchangeably, actually have different origins and stories. The origin of the term "denim" dates back to between 1500 and 1600, deriving from the French word “serge de Nîmes” (fabric of Nimes). On the other hand, "jeans" comes from "Blue de Gênes" (Blue of Genoa), referring to the city of Genoa, where these durable fabrics were made into work clothing, mainly for sailors.
